No. 9 Men's Tennis Achieves Program-Highest Oracle/ITA Ranking

TEMPE, ARIZ. - The NC State men's tennis team reached its highest ranking in program history for the third consecutive week, checking into the Oracle/ITA rankings at No. 9, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday.
The Wolfpack maintains an 8-3 record and has tabbed two wins over top-25 teams. The team competed in the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship Feb. 14-16 for the first time in program history, taking on three top-20 opponents.
In singles rankings, senior Alexis Galarneau moved to the No. 37 position. Galarneau recorded a win over then-No. 16 Axel Geller in the Wolfpack's match against No. 8 Stanford at ITA Indoors. The senior has tallied three wins over ranked opponents over the course of the season.
Junior Tadas Babelis entered the rankings for the first time this season at No. 96. Babelis has defeated two ranked opponents this season.
In doubles, the pair of Babelis and sophomore Yannai Barkai remain in the top 20 at No. 17. The duo defeated the then-No. 13 doubles pair in NC State's match at Princeton on Feb. 2.
NC State returns to action with a doubleheader March 1 at the Cary Tennis Park. The Wolfpack takes on fifth-ranked Texas at 12 p.m. and will compete against NC A&T at 4 p.m.
