Grantham, Negrete Collect EAGL Weekly Honors

BALTIMORE, MD. - Senior Drew Grantham has been named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week and freshman Chloe Negrete has received EAGL Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The accolades mark the second time this season that Grantham has been named EAGL Gymnast of the Week and the third consecutive week that Negrete has collected the EAGL Rookie of the Week distinction.

Grantham achieved two first-place finishes in the Wolfpack's tri-meet with New Hampshire on North Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 15, topping the podium on beam and in all-around. The senior posted a 9.900 on floor for the second consecutive meet and tabbed a 9.875 on beam. Her score on floor made her part of a tie for third place in the event, and she additionally took the third-place spot on bars with a 9.775.

Negrete set a career high on floor, recording a 9.900. The score marks the first time in her career that the Frisco, Texas native has achieved a 9.900 or higher on floor and made her part of a tie for third place in the rotation. Her 9.800 on vault tied her career high and was the second-highest score by a member of the Wolfpack on the event. On beam, Negrete notched a 9.825 and tied for a second-place finish.

The squad returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21 for a tri-meet with William & Mary and Centenary in Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum.
