NC State took a late lead after trailing by 12 points, but BC ended game on a 7-2 run
CHESTNUT HILL, MA. – The NC State men's basketball team battled back from a 12-point deficit, but could not complete the comeback as it fell to Boston College, 71-68, Sunday night at the Conte Forum.
With the loss, NC State falls to 16-9, 7-7 in the ACC while Boston College improves to 13-13, 7-8 in the ACC.
The Eagles led for a majority of the game, but a 6-0 run gave NC State a 66-64 lead on a Markell Johnson lay-up with 3:12 to play. It was the Pack's first lead since 4-2 in the opening minutes of the contest.
Boston College would tie the game on the next possession and then take the lead on its next possession with another free throw. A breakway dunk gave BC a three-point lead, but Jericole Hellems answered with a lay-up at the other end to cut the deficit to one.
After a defensive stop, NC State turned the ball over and another breakaway dunk from the Eagles gave BC a 71-68 lead. The Pack had one more opportunity but CJ Bryce's three-pointer at the buzzer was just short.
