RALEIGH, N.C. – For the final time in 2020, NC State will be taking the field at Carter-Finley Stadium as the Wolfpack will host Georgia Tech.
Â
The game will kick off at 4 p.m., and will be televised on the ACC Network.
Â
The Wolfpack (7-3, 6-3 ACC) comes into the final game of the regular season with a three-game winning streak after pulling out a 36-29 win at Syracuse last weekend.
Â
A back-and-forth game throughout, NC State scored the game's final 16 points. The Pack trailed 28-20 with 5:49 left in the third quarter, but totaled a pair of touchdowns and a field goal over the final 17:22 of the game for its third ACC road win of the season.
Â
"I was very proud of the way our guys hung in there and battled back and the adjustments that were made by the staff," said head coach Dave Doeren. "As I've said, many times this year, we found different ways to win games.
Â
"That was the fifth game that we've come from behind and won. I think that says a lot about the grit and the resolve and connection that these guys have with each other and the way the staff can work together and just overcome difficult moments in games. It's a special group."
Â
The Pack enters the weekend as one of only five Division I teams to have played 10 games this season, and has played its 11 games of the 2020 season over the last 12 weeks dating back to Sept. 19.
Â
"It's been a special year, said Doeren. "I think our players and our assistant coaches have all done a great job.
Â
"I'm just thankful and feel blessed that we're in the situation we are. It's been a fun year. It's a special group. Obviously, if we can get this next one and put us at eight, that would make it even better."
Â
Georgia Tech will come into Carter-Finley Stadium with a 3-5 record, but fresh off a 56-33 win over Duke last weekend in Atlanta.
Â
"Georgia Tech is a very athletic football team," said Doeren. "I think they've recruited well, and they're young. The kids that played for them last year that are back are better, they're developing well. They're believing in what they do.
Â
"Their record doesn't really show the progress, I don't think, of their team."
Â
The game will be a rematch from last season, as the Yellow Jackets held serve on their home field with a 28-26 win. The Pack scored two unanswered TDs in the fourth quarter, but couldn't connect on a two-point conversion to even the score.
Â
NC State has lost three in a row in the series, with the last Wolfpack win coming in 2010. The last Pack home win in the series was back in 2000 in overtime.
Â
"Our guys are excited," said Doeren. "It's been a lot of emotional games here for us, a lot of tight games, a lot of one-possession games, we haven't had any relaxing moments really."
Â
NC State will be looking to close out the regular season with four consecutive victories for the first time since the 2008 season.
Â
The Pack will also be honor its Seniors, as some might be playing their final game at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Â
"12 seniors, kind of unique, in that you don't know, in some cases, whether they may come back or not," said Doeren. "Seniors now have an additional year. In some cases we do know they're not, and some we don't. We'll have to wait and see on some of the guys.
Â
"Eight of these 12 young men have already graduated and the rest are on schedule. Last time through the tunnel, a series of lasts, and so we want to honor them and do our best for them as they leave our program."
