Wolfpack achieves highest AP ranking since 1999-2000 campaign
RALEIGH – After spending the last three weeks as the nation's fourth-ranked team, NC State women's basketball moved up to third in the Associated Press Top-25 Poll.
Monday's placement marks the program's best ranking since Jan. 10, 2000 when the Wolfpack was listed third to cap off six-straight weeks spent in the national top five. NC State has now spent the last four weeks in the AP Top 5, which marks its longest streak since that 1999-2000 campaign.
After starting the season at No. 8, the team moved into the top five with a big road win at then-No. 1 South Carolina. The Wolfpack has remained perfect since then and is off to an 8-0 start to the season and a 3-0 clip in league action for the third year in a row.
NC State is set to return to action on New Year's Eve as it travels to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech. Tip-off from the McCamish Pavilion is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be televised on the ACC's Regional Sports Networks.
