Walkling Signs Contract With SV Werder Bremen

RALEIGH - NC State women's soccer alumna Ricci Walkling has signed a contract with SV Werder Bremen of 2. Frauen-Bundesliga, the second tier of German soccer. She is eligible to compete immediately.
The midfielder finished up her career last semester, and graduated with a parks, recreation and tourism management degree in December. Walkling started 86 matches in her career, the seventh-most for a single player in program history, and was consistently rated as one of the top players in the NCAA.
"This is a great fit for Ricci as a mid-year transfer," said head coach Tim Santoro. "She'll get established with Bremen and be prepared to help them in the top division come next year. It's bittersweet, as you're proud and happy however I hate not seeing her wearing red at NC State."
She tallied 27 career assists, which also ranks seventh all-time in program history, and additionally scored 11 goals during her time in Raleigh. Collectively, she earned 14 conference, regional and national awards for her efforts on the field and in the classroom throughout her career.
She was a part of the 2019 senior class who helped the program reach at least the NCAA Second Round the past four years and advance to the Sweet 16 three of those times. In each of the last four seasons, the Wolfpack has finished the season nationally ranked, a feat that had not been accomplished in at least 20 years.
