RALEIGH, N.C. – A trio of NC State football players have been named to the All-ACC Academic Team. The Wolfpack's honorees for the 2019 season include the left side of the 2019 offensive line – tackle Ikem Ekwonu and guard Joe Sculthorpe – and wide receiver Tabari Hines.
Ekwonu was named to the FWAA Freshman All-American Team after he started the last seven games of the season at left tackle as a true freshman. The Charlotte native led the Pack in pancake blocks last season with 37 while playing in all 12 games. He earned a 3.4 GPA in management and was named to the Dean's List.
Sculthorpe started 11 games at left guard for the Pack in 2019, his first year as a full-time starter. A second-team All-ACC choice according to Pro Football Focus, the Hampstead, N.C., native boasts a career 3.6 GPA in sociology and is a four-time Dean's List honoree.
Hines came to NC State as a graduate transfer in 2019 and ended up finishing second among Wolfpack receivers with 37 catches for 402 yards. The Florence, S.C., native also scored a pair of touchdowns while earning a 3.778 GPA in his postgraduate Youth Development & Leadership program. He was also named to the Dean's list.
In Dave Doeren's seven seasons as a head coach, his players have won All-ACC Academic honors 31 times.
