RALEIGH – After spending six consecutive weeks as the ninth-ranked team in the nation, the NC State women's basketball team (17-1, 6-1 ACC) earned a season-high designation of No. 8 in the Associated Press national standings.
The Wolfpack picked up a pair of home ACC wins against No. 13 Florida State (68-51) and Wake Forest (59-45) to move up one spot in Monday's poll with 530 points. NC State has now spent the last seven weeks in the AP Top 10, with Monday's ranking marking the 157th time that the program has appeared in the top 10.
NC State joins Louisville (No. 5) and Florida State (No. 14) as the three ACC teams ranked in this week's national poll. The Wolfpack currently ranks second in the ACC with its 6-1 league record, just behind Louisville's unblemished 7-0 mark.
NC State is set to hit the road for a game at Pittsburgh on Thursday evening before returning home to face rival North Carolina on Sunday evening.
