RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team has added a pair of talented athletes to its roster as both Sydney Ferguson and Mackenzie Taylor will join the Wolfpack for the upcoming 2020 season. Ferguson comes to NC State as a redshirt freshman after spending last season at Penn State while Taylor graduated high school in December. Both student-athletes are enrolled in classes and are on campus.
A 6-3 outside hitter, Ferguson comes to NC State with four years of remaining eligibility. She was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, ranking No. 44 on the PrepVolleyball.com Senior Ace list in addition to being a four-time all-conference honoree. Ferguson, who is originally from Stafford, Va., was also a two-time all-region honoree on the way to helping her team win two regional titles. She played club volleyball for Virginia Juniors and FJVC. Her sister Sydney plays at ECU.
A North Carolina native, Taylor will add additional depth to the outside as a six-foot outside hitter from Mooresville, N.C. She was a three-time offensive player of the year for Lake Norman High School, accumulating 721 kills and 579 digs in a three-year span. Taylor played for the Carolina Juniors volleyball club and earned a spot on the North Carolina State high performance team in 2015. Additionally, Taylor traveled to Colorado Springs in 2016 as a member of the USAV high performance A2 program.
