Ekwonu Named Freshman All-American

RALEIGH, N.C. -Â Ikem Ekwonu has been named to the FWAA-Shaun Alexander Freshman All-American Team, presented by Stand Together. The team was selected by a panel of college football experts representing each FBS conference.Â

Ekwonu led the Wolfpack in pancake blocks last season with 37 in 12 games. The 6'4, 298-lb. Charlotte native was the first true freshman to start a game at offensive tackle for the Wolfpack since 2010 when he got the nod in Game 6 vs. Syracuse and ended up starting the last seven games of the season.

A second-team All-ACC choice of Pro Football Focus, Ekwonu allowed just two sacks in 641 snaps during his rookie campaign.Â
