David Loera Ranked Second on Preseason Top 100 Players List

NC State midfielder is also a candidate for the MAC Hermann Trophy

RALEIGH – Junior midfielder David Loera of the NC State men's soccer team has been ranked second in the nation on the 2019 TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Top 100 Players to Watch list, the organization announced recently.
Also one of just 36 MAC Hermann Trophy nominees from around the country, Loera earned First Team All-ACC honors in 2018 and All-ACC Freshman Team recognition in 2017. During the 2018 season, he scored three goals (all match-winners) and led the Wolfpack with seven assists. The Orlando, Fla., native was named TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week on Oct. 16 after scoring match-winning goals at Longwood and against then-No. 1 UNC. He also earned United Soccer Coaches All-South Region First Team recognition at the conclusion of his sophomore season.
Through two seasons, Loera has started all 38 matches of his Wolfpack career, scoring four goals and distributing 12 assists. In his midfield role, he has recorded a total of 52 shots, 28 of which have been on target (53.8%).
Loera and the Wolfpack have qualified for two straight NCAA Championships. The team officially opens the regular season at Dail Soccer Stadium on Aug. 30 against Loyola.
