RALEIGH, N.C. – Head Coach Linda Hampton-Keith announced the final additions to her coaching staff ahead of the start of the 2019 season, including All-American Julia Brown and former Kentucky standout Darian Mack.
"Wolfpack Volleyball has made tremendous strides by adding such high caliber people to our coaching staff," said head coach Linda Hampton-Keith. "I am thrilled and excited about the direction our program is taking and how much they both have to offer to the growth of our program.
Mack, a four-year letter winner at Kentucky, joins the Wolfpack as a volunteer assistant coach. While at Kentucky, Mack helped the Wildcats to four consecutive NCAA Tournament berths, including a top-four seed in 2017. She was a member of the 2017 team who won a share of the SEC title for the first time since 1988 after finishing 17-1 in conference play.
"Darian has jumped right in with our staff and is showing tremendous growth already," said Hampton-Keith. "We are so fortunate to bring her experience level to our program as she has so much to offer. She has already made an impact on our athletes, and we know she will continue to make us better each day.
Brown returns to NC State as an undergrad assistant coach, while in the process of concluding her degree through the Reconnect program. Brown, a two-time First Team All-ACC performer, concluded her Wolfpack career in 2017 before playing two seasons professionally in Sweden and France. In her senior season, Brown helped lead NC State to one of the most successful seasons in program history, including the program's first NCAA Tournament win and an undefeated home slate. Her long list of accolades includes 2017 AVCA East Region Player of the Year and a two-time AVCA All-East Region honoree. Her 1,368 career kills are the most in NC State's rally scoring era and the fifth most all-time. Additionally, she owns the school's rally-scoring era mark for kills in a single match and single-season.
"The timing couldn't be better! To have the opportunity to add the best volleyball player to come through this program to our coaching staff is huge," said Hampton-Keith. "Our team is pretty young, especially in the position Julia played, so her mentorship will serve our athletes and make us better immediately."
The Wolfpack opens its 2019 season Friday, Aug. 30 at home in Reynolds Coliseum with a pair of matches against Austin Peay and Kansas State.
Season tickets for the 2019 campaign are still available and can be purchased at GoPack.com/BuyTickets in addition to single-game tickets. A full season ticket package costs $50 for adults and $25 seniors/youth. All 2019 volleyball season ticket purchases come with an NC State volleyball stainless steel travel tumbler.
