RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State's swimmers will return to national competition as they head to Stanford, Calif., for the 2019 Phillips 66 National Championships. The meet will be held July 31-August 4 at the Avery Aquatic Center.
Seven current members of the Wolfpack men's and women's swimming teams will be in action over the course of the five-day meet, as will multiple Wolfpack alumni. In addition, members of NC State's incoming freshman class will race at the meet.
Kate Moore, Julia Poole, Emma Muzzy and Kylee Alons will represent the Wolfpack women, with Noah Hensley, Eric Knowles and Curtis Wiltsey entered for the Pack men. Hannah Moore, Justin Ress, Hennessey Stuart and Ryan Held make up the NC State alumni who are set to compete.
The Phillips 66 National Championships meet carries weight in determining the USA Swimming National Team for the 2019-20 season. The roster, which will be selected and announced on Sept. 3, will include the top six swimmers in each individual Olympic event from the combined results of all USA Swimming and FINA-sanctioned meets.
At the 2018 U.S. Nationals, NC State's swimmers secured four podium finishes – three in the men's and women's 50-meter backstroke events and one in the men's 100-meter backstroke. The Pack earned a total of 35 finals appearances, including 10 races across the A finals at the 2018 national meet.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Preliminary sessions will begin at noon ET each day, with the finals slated for 8 p.m. ET starts each evening.
All sessions of the 2019 Phillips 66 National Championships will be streamed live. Daily prelims and all B finals can be viewed at usaswimming.org. Live broadcast coverage of all A finals will be provided by NBC Sports across the NBC Sports Network and the Olympic Channel.
