RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State track and field senior Nell Crosby was honored as a member of the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America Cross Country/Track & Field teams, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization Thursday afternoon.
Crosby earned a spot on the Second Team, becoming the first Wolfpack cross country/track and field student-athlete to garner the honors since Jonathan Addison did so in 2016.
The Colorado Springs, Colo., native boasts a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a physiology major and adds to her list of academic accomplishments from her senior season. Crosby, a two-time USTFCCCA Academic All-American, was also honored as a member of the Academic All-District Team for the first time in her career and was named to the 2018 All-ACC Cross Country Team.
After joining the Wolfpack roster prior to the start of the 2018-19 athletic and academic year, Crosby put together a solid senior campaign as a member of NC State's cross country and track and field teams. She competed for the Pack in all five meets during the 2018 cross country campaign, capped off by All-ACC honors at her first-ever ACC Championships meet where she placed 10th overall. Crosby also became an All-Region honoree during the 2018 season with her top-20 finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional.
She qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships after placing 11th in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA East Preliminary with the third-fastest time in program history. Crosby went on to break the school record with a 9:58.09 time in the NCAA Championships semifinals and became an All-American in the event with a 12th-place finish in the national final.
