Rafa Izquierdo Luque Joins NC State Men’s Tennis Program

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State men's tennis head coach Kyle Spencer announced the addition of Rafa Izquierdo Luque to the Wolfpack roster on Tuesday. He is set to join NC State in the fall for the start of the 2019-20 academic year and tennis season.
Izquierdo Luque, from Santiago de Compostella, Spain, comes to Raleigh after spending the 2019 dual match season at Oklahoma.
"We are thrilled to welcome someone of Rafa's talent and pedigree to NC State," said Spencer. "Rafa will make an immediate impact on our team. More importantly, he shares the mindset of what our program is founded on: consistent improvement each day by focusing on process rather than immediate results. Rafa is from a wonderful family that supports his passion to excel at tennis, ultimately at the highest professional level."
Before beginning his collegiate career, Izquierdo Luque reached a career-high 1378 ATP singles ranking and 130 ITF Juniors ranking in the world. He was also the 2018 Spanish Nationals finalist, the 16U European Singles finalist and is a two-time Spanish National Champion in doubles.
