TEMPE, Ariz. – The NC State men's tennis team secured its first top-25 finish since the 2007 season as it was ranked No. 23 in the final Oracle/ITA Team Rankings of the 2018-19 season.
The final ranking marks the Wolfpack's best national finish since it was tabbed No. 19 to end the 2007 campaign. NC State is one of four ACC squads to be featured in the top 25 at the conclusion of the 2019 dual match season.
NC State ended the year with a 19-11 record as it amassed the most single-season victories since the 2012 campaign when it picked up 20 wins on the year. After its second-straight selection to the NCAA Championships, NC State advanced to the second round of the national tournament for just the fourth time in program history and the first time since 2014.
The NCAA Championships wrapped up a historic 2019 campaign for the Wolfpack.
In just its fourth contest of the regular season, NC State upset 12th-ranked Georgia at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend for its highest-ranked win under the leadership of second-year head coach Kyle Spencer.
The Pack went on to take down a total of seven opponents that were nationally ranked at the time of competition during the 2019 campaign. Twelve of NC State's wins came against opponents that were featured in the season-ending top 75.
NC State posted an 8-4 record during regular-season conference play, marking the most league wins in a single season in program history. The squad went on to make history as the program's first-ever team to advance to the ACC Championship semifinals.
The Wolfpack reentered the top 25 on March 26 and remained there for the final six rankings of the regular season before ending its year at 23rd.
The final singles and doubles standings of the 2019 spring season will be announced next Wednesday, May 29. Stay tuned for a full look back at the team's historic 2018-19 campaign.
