Pack Blanks Quakers for Third Straight Win

RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 33 NC State men's tennis team showed tremendous resiliency through a slew of three-set singles matches as it fought off 27th-ranked Penn, 7-0, Monday evening inside the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
With the win, the Pack improves to 10-3 on the season while the Quakers fall to 10-3 on their year.

MATCH RECAP:
The first four singles matches to go on court all went into third sets, with the Pack and the Quakers taking the first set on two courts apiece.
After dropping his first set, Tadas Babelis faced a two-game deficit in the second set but fired off four straight games to force a third frame. The Wolfpack sophomore went on to complete the 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 comeback win against Kevin Zhu to extend NC State's lead that it held after doubles.
Alexis Galarneau picked up his fifth ranked win of his junior campaign to improve to 9-1 on the season in singles. Galarneau, who is ranked 43rd nationally, also rallied from a set down to defeat No. 54 Kyle Mautner 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 and put the Wolfpack a match away from the clinch.
Igor Saveljic battled back from going down a break in his third set to secure the team's win with a a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 decision over Edoardo Graziani.
Barkai extended his team-best singles winning streak to seven matches as he beat Shatalin 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2).
Georgiy Malyshev added a singles win on court five as he beat Noah Makarome 6-3, 6-0. Ivan Saveljic closed out the match by earning the 50th singles victory of his Wolfpack career with a 7-6 (1), 6-2 win over Jason Hildenbrandt.
The Wolfpack got off to a strong start in the match and came out firing in doubles action as it put together wins on all three courts.
Michael Ogden and Babelis paired up for the first time in their careers and cruised to a 6-1 victory over Penn's Max Cancila and Robert Smithline to get doubles started for the Pack. Galarneau and Barkai followed suit with a 6-2 decision over Graziani and Zhu to clinch the doubles point for NC State.
Igor and Ivan played their match out on the top doubles court where they defeated Mautner and Shatalin by a 6-3 count.
UP NEXT:
The Pack will hit the road for a pair of contests as it visits No. 32 Oklahoma State on Friday, March 8 and concludes non-conference action at third-ranked Texas on Sunday, March 10.
