Rogers, Smith Sweep ACC Player of the Week Awards for Pack

GREENSBORO, N.C. --Â Â Sweeping the ACC Player of the Week awards, Anna Rogers has been named ACC Player of the Week, and Alana Smith has been named ACC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday.

Rogers and Smith contributed to keeping the squad's seven-match win streak alive as the Pack defeated No. 25 Miami and Virginia Tech this past weekend. NC State defeated Miami 6-1 on Friday and Virginia Tech 5-2 on Sunday to move to 17-3 (7-1) on the season.

Ranked 31st in the nation in singles, Rogers defeated second-ranked Estela Perez-Somarriba of Miami 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3 on the Pack's way to a 6-1 win over the No. 25 Hurricanes on Friday. The victory marked her 12th ranked singles victory of the season, and handed Perez-Somarriba her first singles dual loss in 364 days.

In doubles, No. 9 Rogers and Smith helped NC State capture the doubles point with a 6-3 decision over No. 34Â Â Daniella Roldan and Daevenia Achong.

Following her impressive performance on Friday, Rogers claimed victories in both singles and doubles against Virginia Tech.

No. 70 Smith had a perfect weekend, posting a 2-0 record in singles and a 1-0 record in doubles.

The Fort Washington, Md., native has now garnered the ACC Freshman of the Week award four times this season.

Smith and Rogers earned their eighth ranked doubles win of the season on Friday, and boast an 8-1 record against nationally-ranked doubles opponents.

The No. 12 Wolfpack begins a three-match road stint at Pittsburgh on Friday, March 29 at 3 p.m. before playing No. 32 Syracuse at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 31.
