Rocens to join NC State in the fall
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team has added Martins Rocens to its roster, as announced by head coach Kyle Spencer. The Riga, Latvia native signed a National Letter of Intent and is set to join the Wolfpack in the fall for the start of the 2019-2020 academic year and tennis season.
"Martins is an emerging talent that has shown his ability at a young age to compete at a very high level internationally," said Spencer. "We were so impressed at his maturity and exuberance in the recruiting process. Martins comes from a wonderful family and a proud tennis country. We are so excited that he chose NC State!"
Rocens was the 2017 Latvian National Champion in both singles and doubles, and he has represented his home country on the international stage as a member of Latvia's Davis Cup team. He reached a career-high ATP ranking of 1622 in November of 2018 and also owns a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) high of 13.31.
