#9/12 Wolfpack Earns 74-69 Victory at UNC-Chapel Hill

NC State has won five of last six meetings with Tar Heels

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – In a thrilling game that featured nine ties and 16 lead changes, No. 9/12 NC State women's basketball team (24-3, 11-3 ACC) picked up a big rivalry win on Sunday afternoon at UNC-Chapel Hill, defeating the Tar Heels by a final score of 74-69 inside Carmichael Arena.
NC State trailed 68-66 with just 2:08 remaining in the game before freshman Elissa Cunane hit a clutch field goal in the paint on a Kiara Leslie assist with 1:29 to go. The Wolfpack defense held strong on UNC-CH's next possession, and Leslie scored on NC State's next trip down the floor to give the Pack a 70-68 lead with 38 seconds left. Paris Kea went 1-for-2 at the free-throw line on the Tar Heels' next possession, and sophomore Kayla Jones sank four straight free throws down the stretch to close out the four-point road win.
Leslie led the Wolfpack with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. She was joined in double figures by 14 points from Kayla Jones (6-of-6 FT), 12 from Cunane, and 10 from Aislinn Konig. Senior DD Rogers tied for a game high with 11 rebounds.
UNC-CH's Kea led all players with 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field. She was joined in double figures by 18 points from Shayla Bennett and 10 from Janelle Bailey. Bailey also pulled down 11 total rebounds.
