
Softball To Host Fairfield Inn & Suites Crabtree Invitational This Weekend

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team (3-6) is set to host its second of three tournaments in the 2019 season this weekend, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Crabtree Invitational. The Wolfpack will host Georgia Southern (9-4), Murray State (4-6) and UMBC (0-1) Friday through Monday at Dail Stadium.
Due to the inclement weather in the area this weekend, the tournament schedule has been altered.

Last Time Out
NC State opened its home schedule last weekend when it played Nebraska and Wisconsin twice in the ACC/B1G Challenge. The Wolfpack dropped all four contests to the Huskers and Badgers.
Home Stretch
Ten of NC State's next 11 games will be played at home. After this weekend, the squad will host the NC State Invitational March 1-3 and then Valparaiso on March 5 for its first home midweek game of the season.

The Pack has hit nine home runs this season and is led by Brigette Nordberg who has belted three of her own. She currently ranks third in home runs per game (.43) in the ACC, and that mark puts her at T33rd in the NCAA.
Scouting The Competition
-This weekend will be NC State's first-ever meeting with Murray State and UMBC, while the Wolfpack leads its all-time series with Georgia Southern, 5-1.
-Georgia Southern has won five of its last six games, and Murray State has won four of its last five contests. UMBC has only played one game this season, a 6-3 loss to Delaware on Feb. 10.
-The Eagles and Racers both have seven returning starters from their 2018 squads, and two players apiece that received all-conference accolades from their respective leagues. The Retrievers return nine players from last year, including America East All-Conference honoree Imani Dawson.
-Georgia Southern's Logan Harrell (.438, 4HR, 8 RBI, 1.250 SLG) was named Sun Belt Player of the Week, while Murray State's Hannah James (3-0, 1.33 ERA, 2 CG, 20 SO, 21.1 INN) received Co-Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honors this week.
On Deck
NC State will travel to Charlotte Wednesday for its first midweek game of the year. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at the Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium.
