RALEIGH, N.C.– The NC State women's swimming and diving team will enter postseason action ranked in the national top four, as the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released its final TYR Top 25 Poll of the regular season on Wednesday.
The Wolfpack women jumped up two spots in the poll to earn the highest ranking of any ACC women's program and to tie their season-best ranking at No. 4. Since the last release of the national poll on Jan. 23, NC State's women earned a dominant win over ACC foe Virginia, beating the Cavaliers by a 167-127 score in a top-six matchup at home. The Pack went on to end its season with a tri-meet against then top-ranked Texas and Arizona, coming away with a win over the Wildcats.
The Pack's women have yet to fall outside of the top 11 during the 2018-19 season and have been featured in the top 10 of the last five national polls this season. NC State heads into the postseason with a 5-1 record in head-to-head matchups, with its only loss coming at the hands of then No. 1 Texas. The Wolfpack women defeated three opponents that were ranked at the time of competition – No. 22 Duke, No. 24 UNC-Chapel Hill and No. 5 Virginia.
NC State turns its attention to postseason competition, which begins next week at the 2019 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships in Greensboro, N.C. The women's swimming and diving and men's diving competition is set for Feb. 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
