Dunn Named Groza Award Semifinalist

RALEIGH, N.C. - Wolfpack placekicker Christopher Dunn has been named one of 20 semifinalist for the 2019 Lou Groza Collegiate Placekicker Award. The Groza Award, which has been handed out since 1992, is given by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
Dunn has excelled during his sophomore season for the Wolfpack, leading the ACC in field goals with two per game – the No. 3 mark in the FBS. Just 21 games into his career, the Lexington, N.C., native already ranks seventh in school history with 38 career field goals. He ranks fourth in the ACC in scoring with nine points per game.
Three finalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 25th
The Award is named for National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954. Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an NFL roster for a kicker.
