LEXINGTON, KY. – NC State volleyball volunteer assistant coach Darian Mack is one of 14 recipients of the 2019 AVCA Diversity Award. The award, funded by individual donations and proceeds from the annual AVCA Silent Auction, provides the opportunity for up-and-coming ethnic minority volleyball coaches to attend the AVCA Convention.
"First I would like to say thank you to head coach, Linda Hampton-Keith and NC State volleyball for giving me the opportunity to be on this staff this season, as well as giving me the resources and experience in order to advance my career," said Mack. "Thank you to the AVCA and the Diversity committee for selecting me as one of their recipients. Winning this award gives me the opportunity to achieve my goals of becoming a coach, continuing to work with student-athletes, as well as learn from top coaches around the country. I'm very excited to continue to be a part of the process of growing the game of volleyball."
Mack joined the Wolfpack coaching staff in August 2019 and has been an integral part of the team's success this season. As a player, Mack helped lead Kentucky to four consecutive NCAA tournament berths, including a top four overall seed in 2017 before playing professionally for a season in Finland. As a part of the Wolfpack staff, Mack has assisted with scouting, video, DataVolley, practice drills as well as travel plans. Mack also serves as the co-camp director for the Wolfpack summer camps.
