RALEIGH – Seventh-year head coach Wes Moore and the 14th-ranked NC State women's basketball team (4-0) picked up another impressive commitment during the early signing period on Tuesday, as Rebecca Demeke signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Wolfpack beginning with the 2020-21 season.
Rebecca Demeke | 6-0 Guard | Toronto, Ontario, Canada | Crestwood Preparatory College
Ranked as the No. 8 player in Canada and the No. 2 at her position by Crown Scout Girls Basketball … 2019 OSBA Championship team member … 2019 BioSteel All-Canadian Girls Team … Competed with Team Canada at the 2018 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup in Minsk, Belarus … In 2017, was a member of Team Ontario which earned a 5-0 record and took home the gold medal at the U15 Girls National Championship.
"Rebecca is a big-time shooter with deep range that can really stretch the defense," Moore said. "Long and athletic, she has the potential to be a factor on the defensive end and boards as well. With Aislinn Konig graduating in the spring (of 2020), we are excited to keep the NC State/Canadian connection going and add Rebecca to the Wolfpack!"
Demeke joins recent NC State signees Genesis Bryant and Dontavia Waggoner, who signed their NLIs on Nov. 13.
The Wolfpack is off to its ninth consecutive 4-0 start to a season and will play its next four games away from home. NC State is next in action on Sunday, Nov. 24 at Saint Mary's. The team then travels to Hawaii to take on Texas (Nov. 29), Hawaii (Nov. 30), and North Texas (Dec. 1).
