NC State to Host Coastal Carolina Thursday in NCAA First Round

Wolfpack achieves three straight postseason invitations for the first time since 1985-87

RALEIGH – For the third consecutive season, the NC State men's soccer team has earned the right to participate in the NCAA Championship. As announced Monday afternoon during the 2019 NCAA Men's Soccer Selection show, the Wolfpack will host Coastal Carolina on Thursday, Nov. 21 in the first round. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm from Dail Soccer Stadium.
This season's NCAA appearance will be the 16th in program history and mark the first time NC State has earned an NCAA berth in three straight seasons since 1985-87. Head coach George Kiefer is 3-for-3 in NCAA appearances at NC State and has made the postseason in 12 of his last 13 seasons as a head coach.
This season, the Wolfpack has posted a 9-6-3 record that includes a 3-4-1 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. NC State finished fifth (of 12) in the ACC regular-season standings, the program's best mark since 2005.
The winner of Thursday's match at will play at national No. 8 seed SMU on Sunday, November 24.
