RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team and head coach Linda Hampton-Keith announced the signing of Hartley Myers and Riley Shaak, a pair of Under Amour Girls High School All-Americans. Myers and Shaak will both join the Wolfpack in the fall for the 2020 season.
"This class embodies our vision for Wolfpack Volleyball," said Hampton-Keith. "In our tenure here this will collectively be the strongest class we have put together as each of the athletes joining our program will fulfill a role needed on the court and within our culture. We expect this class to make an immediate impact on the court while also adding value to our vision and mission as a program."
Hartley Myers
6-1 | OH
Greer, S.C. | Greer High School
Myers was recognized as one of the top players in the country when PrepVolleyball named her a Senior Ace (#80). A South Carolina native, Myers is a two-time All-Region honoree in addition to garnering 2019 All-State accolades. She was selected to play on the 2019 SCCAWS All-Star team. Myers concluded her senior season with 351 kills, the most in the state of South Carolina. A talented student-athlete both on and off the court, Myers is also ranked in the top-15 of her graduating class.
"I am very excited about adding Hartley to our program," said Hampton-Keith. "She will add much needed depth to our Outside Hitter position and is one of the smoothest athletes I have seen in a while. She jumps effortlessly and will be able to physically impact our game immediately. More importantly, she will be a great addition to our team and I am very excited to coach her."
Riley Shaak
6-3 | MB
Newtown Square, Pa. | Academy of Notre Dame
An experienced player at multiple positions, Shaak became the first player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career kills earlier this fall. She is a four-time All-Delaware County selection, including two first team accolades. Shaak also received First Team All-Interac Conference and All-Main Line in each of her four seasons. A four-year varsity starter for Academy of Notre Dame, Shaak also played a season of varsity basketball.
"Riley will have an opportunity to immediately impact our program in more ways than one," said Hampton-Keith. "She will not just add depth in our middle position but with her versatility, height and athleticism, she is in the conversation for other positions as well. Riley brings a high level of experience with her and a competitiveness that will add value to our program and enhance our team's culture immediately."
