GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior midfielder David Loera of the NC State men's soccer team (9-6-3) has been named to the All-ACC Second Team for the 2019 season, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced in a news release Wednesday morning.
Loera is earning postseason All-ACC honors for the third consecutive year. In his debut 2017 campaign, he made the All-Freshman Team and during his sophomore season (2018), he earned a spot on the All-ACC First Team.
A 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List member, Loera has started all 18 of NC State's matches this season. He is tied for second on the team in goals scored (3) and assists (3). He has scored one match-winning goal this season, an impressive strike from outside the box in NC State's 1-0 win over ETSU on Oct. 8. Loera leads the team in total shots (41) and shots on goal (15).
For his career, Loera has started 56 matches, scoring seven goals (four match-winners) and distributing 15 assists for a total of 29 points.
Loera and the Wolfpack finished fifth in the ACC regular-season standings this year, the program's best mark since 2005. NC State will now await its opponent for the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack is seeking its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, a feat that has not been achieved by the NC State program since 1985-87. The NCAA Selection Show is scheduled for 1 pm on Monday, Nov. 18 and the first round of the competition begins on Thursday, Nov. 21.
