North Florida (11 a.m.)
LAST TIME OUT:
The Wolfpack enters the match coming off of a 4-3 win over No. 12 Georgia. The teams matched up against one another in the consolation round of ITA Kick-Off Weekend, and NC State picked up the win in a match that came down to the final court. With the win, the Wolfpack earned its highest-ranked win under the leadership of head coach Kyle Spencer and the program's best win over a ranked opponent since 2016.
The teams split the six singles courts, with the Pack's ownership of the opening doubles point serving as the deciding factor in the match. Alexis Galarneau and Michael Ogden cruised past the nation's 51st-ranked duo, and Georgiy Malyshev and Tadas Babelis claimed the doubles point for the Wolfpack in tiebreaker.
In singles action, Igor Saveljic and Malyshev secured wins, and Galarneau clinched the Pack's win by defeating No. 15 Emil Reinberg, the highest-ranked player that Galarneau has defeated in his NC State career.
PACK IN THE POLLS:
NC State was tabbed at No. 25 in the latest release of the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings, marking the first time this season that the Pack has been featured in the national poll.
The team was also ranked in the Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top 25, checking in at No. 24 in that poll.
SCOUTING THE OSPREYS:
Saturday will be the first meeting between NC State and North Florida since 1988. After the Ospreys picked up the first win in the series, the Pack has won the last two matches between the teams.
The Ospreys are the defending ASUN champions and return five players from that squad.
North Florida enters the weekend with a 2-1 record and will face UNCW on Friday evening before heading to Raleigh to take on the Pack.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
Winthrop is 1-2 on the season coming into Saturday's match. The teams last matched up during the 2018 campaign, a match that the Pack won by a 5-2 score in Raleigh. NC State owns a 3-0 all-time record over the Eagles.
The Eagles went unbeaten in Big South play during the 2018 regular season and posted the most conference wins for the program since 2014.
