GREENSBORO, N.C. – Simon Blotko and Leon Krapf of the 24th-ranked NC State men's soccer team have been named to the All-ACC Academic Men's Soccer Team, the Atlantic Coast Conference office announced on Thursday. Blotko is earning the honor for the third consecutive season while Krapf is earning his second straight.
Blotko, a senior defender, and Krapf, a sophomore goalkeeper, played very large roles in NC State's success during the 2018 season. The duo played all 20 matches of a 10-7-3 season that included wins in the opening rounds of both the 2018 ACC Championship and 2018 NCAA Championship. The Wolfpack defeated three ranked teams and earned two draws against ranked opponents during the season. Strong defense and goalkeeping were hallmarks of the Wolfpack's success in 2018, as the team conceded just 24 goals in 20 matches.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
