Elissa Cunane Earns National Rookie of the Week Honor

Wolfpack freshman averaged 14.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in wins over Clemson and Georgia Tech

ST. LOUIS – One day after being named the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, freshman center Elissa Cunane of the seventh-ranked NC State women's basketball team (20-0, 7-0 ACC) has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Freshman of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Cunane is the first ACC freshman to win this award all season.

During a home win over Clemson (54-51) and a road win at Georgia Tech (68-60), Cunane recorded two strong performances. She scored 11 points on 4-7 shooting and grabbed four rebounds in the win over Clemson before concluding the week with 17 points (5-8 FG and 7-9 FT) and six rebounds at Georgia Tech. For the week, she averaged 14.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 9-15 (.600) from the field and 9-13 (.692) from the free-throw line.
Cunane currently leads the ACC in shooting percentage (.626) this season and also hit her first career three-pointer during the week, sinking a corner trey in the second quarter of the win over Clemson.
This week, the Wolfpack plays at Wake Forest on Thursday evening and hosts rival UNC-Chapel Hill on Sunday in front of a sellout crowd in Raleigh.
