GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State men's tennis captains Alexis Galarneau and Michael Ogden were named ACC Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The honors mark the tandem's first time winning the Doubles Team of the Week award after pairing up for the majority of the past two seasons. Galarneau was named ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week once in 2017 during his rookie campaign.
On Sunday, Galarneau and Ogden picked up their first ranked doubles win of the 2019 season as they cruised past Georgia's 51st-ranked Robert Loeb and Jan Zielinski on the top doubles court. They managed to take a 3-1 lead with an early break and went on to secure a 6-2 win. The duo's victory helped NC State clinch the doubles point over No. 12 Georgia, which ended up being the deciding point in the Wolfpack's 4-3 win after the teams each took three courts in singles action.
The Wolfpack pair now owns a 21-10 overall doubles record when playing together, including five career wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
The entire Wolfpack squad returns home this weekend for doubleheader at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Feb. 2. NC State will face North Florida at 11 a.m. and Winthrop at 5 p.m.
