NC State advances to ITA National Team Indoor Championship for first time in school history
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The NC State women's tennis team defeated 11th-ranked Florida, 4-3, on Monday at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend to earn a bid to the ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championship in Seattle, Wash., for the first time in school history. The win marks only the fourth time in 20 years that the Gators have lost at home. No. 23 Anna Rogers clinched the match for the Pack against No. 29 McCartney Kessler, her eighth nationally-ranked singles win of the season. NC State moves to 4-0 on the season for the time since 2015.
No. 37 Adriana Reami and Amanda Rebol earned the Pack its first doubles victory of the day, and No. 20 Alana Smith and Rogers moved to 14-1 overall and 5-0 against ranked opponents in doubles competition to secure the doubles point against No. 41 Tsveta Dimitrova and Ida Jarlskog. NC State has won every doubles point this season.
Rebol earned the first singles victory for NC State, 7-5, 6-0. Battling in three sets, Liz Norman would capture the victory over Dimitrova to shift the attention to the battle of ranked opponents on court one.

"This feeling is unbelievable. Every single one of us fought out there today and that's so special. When all other courts finished and I realized I was the deciding match, I tried to keep cool and not show any emotion. I focused on every point and my team was there with me every step of the way.
"The last point was epic. This was the first time I have ever clinched this big of a match, and it felt unreal. We made program history and that's something to be proud of. This is what we've worked for and there's much more to come. GO PACK!!"

Wow, what a day and weekend for our program. It's hard to put into words our journey, but today sums up how far we've come.
"We made an excellent start in doubles. I wouldn't say it was spectacular, but we were solid and managed to get out to a quick lead. Going into the match, I thought doubles would be the key for us, and it proved to be the case. The first sets in singles were super tight and we let some leads slip, however this team showed its toughness and taking two of the three breakers was big for us. Amanda took care of business, and Liz managed to stay focused at the perfect point early in the third set. Alana's comeback, which was ultimately in a losing effort, really helped to keep the focus off Liz's and Anna's courts. In the team format we play, every little contribution counts.
"When it came down to Anna, I felt very confident in her. David and I see her every day, and the work she has put in since the end of last season is an example to everyone of what can be achieved. In those last few games she stayed rock solid, stuck to the plan, and never wavered. It was fantastic to see and we'll all enjoy this result today. Starting tomorrow, we've really got to get right back to work and make the most of the time available ahead of Friday's big home doubleheader against 18th-ranked Texas Tech and Campbell. Go Pack!!"
