RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 5/6 NC State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host No. 14/5 Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Casey Aquatic Center for the Wolfpack's final home meet of the 2018-19 season.
The first diving events are set to begin at 10 a.m., and the swimming events will start at 11 a.m. The meet will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra beginning at 11 a.m.
MEET INFO:
Saturday's meet is a Splash Bash, and fans are encouraged to wear their best swim gear, with prizes being awarded for the best outfit. Additional promotions for this weekend's home meet include:
LAST TIME OUT:
The Pack enters this weekend's meet coming off of a pair of conference wins over rival UNC-Chapel Hill. NC State's men and women made their return to dual competition in dominant fashion last weekend as they swept the Tar Heels for the fourth season in a row.
The Wolfpack women set a pair of pool records on the way to defeating UNC-Chapel Hill 197-97, and the Pack men beat the visiting Tar Heels by a 193-101 score.
PACK IN THE POLLS:
The Wolfpack women are ranked No. 6 in the nation, and the NC State men check in at No. 5 in the latest CSCAA/TYR Top 25. NC State has yet to see either team fall outside of the top 11 during the 2018-19 season, and both squads have been ranked in the top nine of the last four national polls.
NC State is also the only program in the ACC with both of its teams featured inside the top 10.
PACKED ACC PERFORMER OF THE WEEK LIST:
NC State saw three of its members honored as ACC Performers of the Week after helping lead the teams to the sweep over UNC-CH. Freshman Kylee Alons, junior Madeline Kline and senior Andreas Vazaios all earned the nod on Monday.
Kline repeated as ACC Women's Diver of the Week after being honored for the first time this season on Jan. 7, and Vazaios was named ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week for the third time in 2018-19. The honors were the first for Alons, who was named ACC Women's Swimmer of the Week after a successful first home outing with the Wolfpack.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS:
Virginia enters the weekend with both of its teams ranked in the top 15 of the national poll. The Cavaliers visit UNC-Chapel Hill for a dual meet on Friday before heading to Raleigh to face the Wolfpack on Saturday.
NC State's men have won the last four dual meets against the Cavaliers, and they have only dropped one decision to Virginia under head coach Braden Holloway's leadership.
Last season, the squads split the meet in Charlottesville, Va. as the Pack men took a 193-100 win and Virginia's women edged the Wolfpack women 178-117. Virginia's women went on to win the team title at the 2018 ACC Championships and finished ninth in the nation at the 2018 NCAA Championships.
