Freshman Emily Fisher turns in career day for NC State

LINCOLN, Neb. – The 13th-ranked NC State rifle team fell against No. 10 Nebraska Sunday afternoon inside the Nebraska Rifle Range, as the Cornhuskers fired a score of 4627 and the Wolfpack earned a mark of 4606.
NC State logged a team score of 2281 in smallbore and a 2325 in air rifle to compile its aggregate total, while Nebraska shot a 2288 in smallbore and a 2339 in air rifle.
The Pack falls to 3-6 on the year and 2-6 in Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) action, while the Cornhuskers move to 6-5 and 4-3 against league opponents.
Smallbore Notes
- For the second consecutive day, freshman Emily Fisher turned in a strong performance as she led all individuals with a career-best score of 579 in smallbore.
- The Fairfax, Va., native logged a perfect first series in the prone position and finished with an overall score four points higher than the next individual.
- Will Marciniak finished fourth in the competition with a mark of 573, headlined by a 99 on his first series of prone.
- Claire Spina tallied a 568, while Aron Tinter and Claire Zanti rounded out the lineup with scores of 561 and 551, respectively.
Air Rifle Notes
- Fisher also led the way for NC State in air rifle with a score of 584 to claim third place, as she fired a perfect third series.
- Tinter notched a perfect 100 on his fifth series of air rifle en route to firing a score of 581.
- Marciniak and Spina each earned a score of 580, while Zach Eisenberg tallied a 576 to conclude the lineup for the Wolfpack.
Aggregate Notes
- Fisher's strong day in both guns led to a personal-best score of 1163 in the aggregate to finish third among the top individuals.
