NC State split series with Fighting Irish last season

RALEIGH, NC – The NC State men's basketball team (14-3, 2-2 ACC) plays its second consecutive road game Saturday when it faces Notre Dame (11-6, 1-3 ACC) at the Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind., at 2 pm.
The game will be televised in the Raleigh area on WRAL (NBC). Other stations in North Carolina carrying the game include WBTV (CBS) in Charlotte, WFMY (CBS) in Greensboro- Winston-Salem – High Point, WITN-D2 (This TV) in Greenville – New Bern – Washington and WSFX (FOX) in Wilmington. - NC State fell to Wake Forest, 71-67, on Tuesday night. The Pack shot season-lows in field goal percentage (37%) and three-point field goal percentage (20.7%) in falling to the Demon Deacons. NC State trailed by 22, 51-29, with 17:31 to play, but went on a 29-7 run to tie the game at 58 with 7:46 left. Senior guard Torin Dorn led the Pack with 18 points and tied for a team-high eight rebounds.
- Senior guard Torin Dorn became the 52nd player in program history to score over 1,000 career points in an NC State uniform. The Charlotte native hit a basline jumper in the first half against Wake Forest for his 1,000th career point. Dorn has 1,008 points in an NC State uniform and 1,392 career points in college (scored 384 points as a freshman at UNC-Charlotte in 2014-15)
- The Pack's bench is averaging 35.6 points per game this season and has had 25 individual double-digit scoring performances. The Pack has scored 40+ points off the bench in eight games this season, including a school-record 62-point performance in the win over USC Upstate on Dec. 22. Since the 1999-2000 season, nine of the top-19 bench scoring performances for NC State have come under Kevin Keatts coached teams. The Pack's bench only accounted for 13 points in NC State's game at Wake Forest on Tuesday. It's the second fewest bench points of the season and snapped a streak of nine consecutive games (dating back to 11/27 at Wisconsin) were the NC State bench had at least one double-digit scorer.

- Notre Dame leads the all-time series with the Pack, 8-5. NC State is 2-4 against the Fighting Irish since ND joined the ACC.
- Last season, the Pack and Fighting Irish split the season series. Notre Dame won at home, 88-58, while the Pack won at PNC Arena, 76-58.
Saturday Storylines
- NC State ranks third in ACC play in free throw percentage, shooting 75.4% (52-of-69) from the foul line, but through four games its opponents have hit more free throws (85) than the Pack has attempted.
- The Pack leads the ACC and ranks 15th in the NCAA in field goal percentage at 49.8%, but enters Saturday's game coming off the three worse shooting performances of the season. NC State shot 42.5% against UNC-Chapel Hill on Jan. 8, 42.3% against Pittsburgh on Saturday and a season-low 37% against Wake Forest on Tuesday.
- When the Pack shoots 30% or better from 3-point range this season it is 13-1. It is 1-2 when it shoots below 30%. NC State shot below 30% from long range in both of its ACC losses this season.
- The Pack is 11-1 this season when it forces its opponent into 15 or more turnovers this season. Notre Dame has only turned it over 15 or more times in two games this season. The Fighting Irish (and Virginia) are the only teams in the ACC to average less than 10 turnovers per game.
