Wolfpack Set For Competition At Atlantic Tire Championships

RALEIGH – Members of the NC State men's tennis team will be in action at the Atlantic Tire Championships at the Cary Tennis Park this week. The event is part of the ATP Challenger Tour, a feeder circuit to the ATP World Tour, and provides an opportunity for the Wolfpack players to earn ATP points and focus on their development for professional tennis.
Senior Igor Saveljic and sophomore Tadas Babelis will pair up to compete in doubles after earning a wild card into the main draw. Their first match is scheduled to begin not before 6 p.m. Monday evening on Center Court, where they'll face J.C. Aragone and Robert Galloway.
Alexis Galarneau is also in action at the Atlantic Tire Championships. The Wolfpack junior is set to play in the final round of the doubles qualifying draw with partner Ronnie Schneider Monday afternoon. The duo's match is scheduled to be the second on court 13 after 2:30 p.m., and a victory would send them to the main doubles draw.
Galarneau will also compete in the main singles draw, facing Bjorn Fratangelo in the first round on Tuesday.
Senior Ivan Saveljic and sophomore Robert Turzak also had the opportunity to compete in the Challenger, as each played in the qualifying singles draw Saturday but fell in the first round.
