King Named To Preseason All-ACC Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Tziarra King was named to the 2018 Preseason All-ACC Women's Soccer Team, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. She is one of 11 players that make up the list voted on by the conference's coaches, as this is her first preseason All-ACC honor.
The ACC also released its predicted order of finish and the Wolfpack was ranked fifth among the conference's 14 teams.
The Sicklerville, N.J., native turned in a strong sophomore campaign in 2017 as she collected First Team All-ACC honors, her second mention in as many years, and finished second on the conference in goals (17) and points (40) after starting all 22 matches.
King played a major role in the program's third-place finish among the league standings with a 6-3-1 record, its best placement in program history, as well as its first ACC semifinal appearance since 1995. She recorded her first career hat trick in the ACC quarterfinal match vs. Notre Dame, leading her squad to a 4-1 victory.
In the past two seasons the Pack finished well above its preseason projection. Last season NC State was predicted to finish seventh and ranked third in the final standings. In 2016 the squad was picked to finish 13th and ranked eighth at the end of the season.
"Polls and rankings are really neat for the public and, maybe, other programs, but they mean nothing to us," said head coach Tim Santoro. "Our program is really good at living in the present and we're 0-0 just like every other team in the country. What we are will be defined when the season is over, not when it starts. I promise you our players are well aware of that."
The Wolfpack will host UNC-Chapel Hill in an exhibition match Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium, and open its regular-season schedule Aug. 16 at 8 p.m. at Navy.
Single-match tickets are ON SALE NOW at the price of $7 for adults, $5 for youth (17 and younger) and $3 for groups of 15 or more. Children age two or younger will be admitted free.
Season tickets are also ON SALE NOW and cost $59 for adults and $25 for seniors/youth.
