Rankin Named ACC Player Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Kia Rankin of the No. 16 NC State women's soccer team was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.
This is the first player of the week award of her career. The Bowie, Md., native made her first appearance of the season in Thursday's 1-1 draw with East Carolina after overcoming an injury, and found the back of the net 15 minutes in of a pass from Krissi Schuster in the right wing.
She also made the starting lineup in Sunday's win over No. 10 South Carolina, tallying three points. After assisting Tziarra King in the 50th minute, she scored the game-winner 13 minutes later on a breakaway after receiving a long ball from Jenna Butler.
The team is back in action this weekend when it heads up north for a pair of matches against Ivy League opponents. The Wolfpack will face Penn Friday at Rhodes Field at 5 p.m., then travel to Princeton Sunday for a 7 p.m. matchup at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium. Both contests will be broadcast on ESPN+.
