How have the first few weeks of practice gone for you?
"It's been good, it's definitely taking things up a notch with a lot more intensity and running. There are a lot of underlying meanings in everything we do. Before when I played, I would be evaluating myself as an individual but when there are consequences for everything you do as a team then it makes you mindful of what we're all doing together."
Â
What has been the biggest adjustment?
"We talk a lot about being mindfully engaged and Coach reiterates it all the time. When I've played previously there wouldn't be as much mindfulness to it but now I have intention with everything that I'm doing. It's a big adjustment for me in that sense."
Â
How excited are you to open the season and make your Wolfpack debut?
"I'm very excited because I feel like I always take it to a new level when I play. I'm excited to see how we do and how we play as a team because I've only seen us play against each other and it will be exciting to compete against someone else."
Â
Classes start on Wednesday, how excited are you for that?
"I'm super excited. I like the fact that I did the Summer Start program because it prepares you for what you're going to have to balance in the fall. I only took one course, but it was a lot of information in a short amount of time and it enabled me to get an idea of how I will have to juggle, manage and prioritize my time."
Â
What's the best part about playing volleyball at NC State?
"My teammates. Linda always talks about how important it is to be a great teammate. They're great teammates and great friends and I'm excited to spend the next four years with them."
Â
What made you commit to NC State?
"I love the diversity of the school and I love the Raleigh area; it actually reminds a lot of home. And definitely the team as well, but when I was going through the recruiting process I wanted to make sure that the school would be a great fit academically in addition to athletics and this was a place that I found that."
Â
What are your goals for the season?
"I want to do well academically and contribute whatever I can to the team, whether it's cheering on my team from the bench or being in the match. I really want to get the most out of my college experience and meet as many people as possible."
Â
What age were you when you started playing volleyball?
"I was 11."
Â
What's your favorite volleyball memory?
"I remember this one I kill I had in club where my setter went up and set the ball with one hand and I smashed it to the floor."
Â
If you didn't play volleyball in college, what other sport would you play?
"Maybe basketball, I don't know if I'd be any good at that. The running is not my favorite. I used to play basketball but then I started playing volleyball and it was a wrap from there."
Â
Quick Hits
Â
What do you like to do in your spare time?
"I like to read, hang out with friends and socialize."
Â
What's your favorite food?
"I don't know if I have a favorite food because there isn't anything I could eat every day and not get tired of."
Â
What's your favorite cereal?
"Cocoa Puffs."
Â
What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?
"Cookies and Cream."
Â
What's your favorite tv show?
"Modern Family."
Â
What's your dream vacation?
