RALEIGH – Sophomore Manny Perez of the NC State men's soccer team has been included on the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Best XI Second Team ahead of the 2018 season, the publication announced on Monday.
The 2017 ACC Freshman of the Year, Perez led the Wolfpack in goals scored (5), match-winning goals (3), and points (14) during his freshman season. He scored three goals in the first three matches of his collegiate career, two of which were match-winners vs. Florida Atlantic and No. 3 Clemson. Later in the season, Perez scored two goals and distributed an assist during NC State's 3-2 victory at No. 5 Louisville. The native of Garner, N.C., also earned spots on the All-ACC Second Team, the ACC All-Freshman Team, the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team, and the TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI First Team.
Perez and the Wolfpack open the 2018 regular season at home on Friday, August 24 when USC Upstate comes to town. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and Spartans is scheduled for 7 pm from Dail Soccer Stadium on campus.
