RALEIGH, N.C. - The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the names of fifty "players to watch" for its 2018 Player of the Year award, the nation's fourth-oldest individual college football accolade. Among those listed is NC State starting QB Ryan Finley.
Â
This preseason, Finley has also been named to both the Davey O'Brien National QB and the Maxwell Award watch lists.
Â
Finley returns for this third season as the Wolfpack's starting QB. After 26 games at NC State, ranks fifth in school history in career passing yards (6,577), fifth in completions (555), fifth in attempts (881) and seventh in touchdown passes (35). His career mark of .630 ranks second in school history only to Philip Rivers.
Â
Last season, he ranked 10th in the Power 5 and second in the ACC in passing yards with 3,518 - the fourth-best single-season mark in school history.
Â
Earlier this offseason, Finley was named a Columbus Touchdown Club Player to Watch for 2018.
Â
The watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in mid-November. The 2018 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 129 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced live on ESPN on Thursday, December 6. The winner will then receive his trophy at the Foundation's 52nd annual national awards banquet on January 12, 2019 in New Haven, Conn.
