Finley was third in preseason ACC Player of the Year voting
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State QB Ryan Finley and WR Kelvin Harmon have been named to the 2018 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Football Team announced Tuesday by the league.
Â
In addition, Finley placed third in voting for the preseason ACC Player of the Year. In a tight vote, Finley's 37 votes were only behind Boston College RB A.J. Dillon with 45 votes and Clemson DT Christian Wilkins with 42.
Â
The preseason player of the year and all-conference team were selected by a vote of 148 media members who were credentialed for last week's ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte.
Â
In other preseason accolades, Finley has been named to the preseason watch lists for both the Maxwell Award and the Davey O'Brien Award, while Harmon is on the preseason list for the Biletnikoff Award.
Â
Returning for this third season as the Wolfpack's starting QB, Finley ranks fifth in school history in career passing yards (6,577), fifth in completions (555), fifth in attempts (881) and seventh in touchdown passes (35) after 26 games at NC State. His career completion percentage of .630 ranks second in school history only to Philip Rivers.
Â
Last season, Finley ranked 10th in the Power 5 and second in the ACC in passing yards with 3,518 - the fourth-best single-season mark in school history.
Â
In 2017, Harmon was the first Wolfpack receiver since 2003 to go over the 1,000-yard mark in a season. His 1,017 yards ranked sixth in school history - second-best ever for a Wolfpack sophomore- and was the second-best mark in the ACC for the season. He boasted six 100+yard receiving games - the fourth-highest single season tally in school history - and was a second-team All-ACC choice on the official league squad, and named to the ACSMA first team.
Earlier in 2018, Finley and Harmon were named "Players to Watch" by the Touchdown Club of Columbus.
