TELAVI, Georgia - Tadas Babelis added to the Wolfpack's summer success on the professional circuit as he claimed the doubles crown at the Georgia ITF Futures event Saturday.
A rising sophomore at NC State, Babelis paired up with Ronald Slobodchikov, who formerly played for head coach Kyle Spencer when he was at SMU. The duo took down the tournament's No. 3 seed of Nicolas Alberto Arreche and Franco Feitt in the final, beating them by a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) score to win the championship.
Babelis and Slobodchikov completed an impressive run through the tournament, during which the pair did not drop a single set on the way to taking the title.
Babelis' win marks the second ITF doubles title of the summer for the Wolfpack. Rising junior Alexis Galarneau claimed the crown at the Calgary Futures in June.
