Volleyball Contributes Highest-Ever Point Total to Directors’ Cup Standings

Wolfpack provides 50 points, tied for the most by an ACC volleyball program
CLEVELAND – Thanks to the program's first win in the NCAA Tournament, NC State volleyball contributed its highest-ever point total to the Wolfpack's historic finish in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings.

The volleyball program was one of just three teams from the ACC to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, contributing 50 points for the athletics department.

NC State Athletics concluded a historic 2017-18 athletic/academic year, placing 15th in the nation in the Directors' Cup standings and reaching its organizational goal of Top 25 status for the first time in program history. The Wolfpack finished fourth overall among Atlantic Coast Conference institutions with 894.75 total points.

Over the last four academic years (2014-15 to 2017-18), NC State's average finish in the national standings is 26th. The 2017-18 finish of 15th is the best in NC State's history.

NC State began the 2017-18 season with a terrific start, as all six programs qualified for their respective postseasons to land the Wolfpack seventh in the final fall national rankings.

The Wolfpack volleyball team finished a record-breaking 2017 season with a 21-12 overall record, highlighted by the program's first win in the NCAA Tournament thanks to a 3-2 victory against Oregon State. NC State also broke the program record with 15 ACC wins in addition to compiling a perfect 10-0 mark in home ACC matches for the first time in program history.

NC State's 2018 schedule has been announced, featuring 19 matches versus teams that finished last season among the top 100 of the NCAA RPI and 14 home matches inside Reynolds Coliseum.
