No. 19 Rogers/Wiktorin Set for NCAA Doubles Championship

RALEIGH – The No. 19 doubles tandem of Anna Rogers and Claudia Wiktorin are set to represent NC State in the NCAA Doubles Championship held at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Competition will begin on Thursday, May 24 and run through May 28.
The duo will kick off the championship on Thursday in the Round of 32 and are slated to play fourth-ranked Erin Larner and Maddie Lipp of Northwestern. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
Season Success
Rogers & Wiktorin recorded a 27-11 record in 2017-18, including a 16-7 record in the dual season and seven wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Rogers' selection also saw her become the first player in program history to be a two-time participant at the NCAA Doubles Championship.
They were a top-30 team in the Oracle/ITA doubles rankings throughout the season, reaching a high of No. 7 on Feb. 78. The mark tied the highest doubles ranking in program history, achieved by achieved by Sanna Bhambri & Sandya Nagharaj in 2011.
In the Pack's opening round match at the NCAA Championship on May 11 vs. No. 16 Baylor, they defeated Dominika Sujova and Giorgia Testa 6-2.
Last Time at the Doubles Championship
Teaming with Martina Frantova, Rogers advanced to Round of 16 at last season's Championship. Playing at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia, they defeated Pepperdine's No. 8 Christine Maddox and Mayar Sherif Ahmed 6-4, 6-2 in the Round of 32 on May 25 before falling in the Round of 16 on May 27 to No. 32 Maya Jansen and Maegan Manasse 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).
Scouting the Competition
Larner and Lipp have a 30-5 record on the season, including a 19-4 record in dual play. The duo went undefeated over B1G opponents, posting an 8-0 record.
The Wildcats advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship where Larner and Lipp earned a 2-1 record. They defeated Buffalo's Chantal Blanco and Lolade Ogungbesan 6-0 in the opening round and Kansas State's Margot Decker and Carolina Costamagna 6-3 in the round of 32 before falling to Duke's No. 9 Ellyse Hamlin and Kaitlyn McCarthy.
