#46 Wolfpack Drops Dual With Clemson, 4-3

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Despite getting off to a promising start by picking up the doubles point, the #46 NC State women's tennis team suffered a 4-3 setback against Clemson Friday afternoon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
The result moves NC State to 9-11 (2-5 ACC) and Clemson to 9-9 (2-5 ACC).
From the Coach
"Well, another 4-3 match and another one that got away from us," said head coach Simon Earnshaw. "We made a good start in doubles. That has been a positive trend this year. Singles, I think there were three matches that we had to have and there were three that were going to be tough outs. As expected, we made a start along those lines, but we let leads slip in one of those and in one of the tough outs and when it came down to it we didn't compete hard enough when we had adversity on those courts. Taylor and Bianca closed theirs out in a businesslike manner and at that point we did lead 3-0. I thought we did a great job to hang in there at 1 and 2 singles. We did enough to give ourselves plenty of chances to win the match, particularly at No. 2. However, we weren't aggressive enough at those moments and Clemson were. We were far too giving in too many segments of the match, whether that's a focus issue or an understanding that we have to be one way all the time. We can't just drift in and out and expect things to go our way in this league. It's not like we've not been here before this year. At some point we've got to show more character and get past this point. The best time to do that is tomorrow at Virginia Tech."
Doubles
NC State earned the doubles point as Adriana Reami and Amanda Rebol defeated A. Miller-Krailnikoc and Tate Schroeder 6-2 at the No. 2 position while at the No. 3 position Bianca Moldovan and Tayla Stenta overcame Laura Marti and Daniela Ruiz 6-3.
Singles
The Wolfpack earned two victories in singles; at the fourth flight Taylor Bridges continued her impressive form as she defeated Sydney Riley 6-2, 6-2 while the No. 5 spot Bianca Moldovan beat Laura Marta 6-2, 6-2.
