RALEIGH, N.C. - For the second year in a row, Ivan Saveljic clinched the NC State men's tennis team's victory over Notre Dame as the Wolfpack topped the 25th-ranked Fighting Irish 4-3 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Friday evening.
With the win, NC State moves to 12-5 overall and 2-4 in the ACC, while Notre Dame drops to 12-10 and 3-3 in conference play.
"ACC competition is always tough," said head coach Kyle Spencer. "What a job we did in the doubles. That was probably our best doubles point that we've played all year, and the guys started to execute there and gained a lot of confidence from that. I just felt a will out there with our guys, whether they were winning or down or tied. I felt a will that couldn't be denied today."
NC State put together dominating performances during the doubles point to take early control of the match.
Alexis Galarneau and Michael Ogden, who are ranked No. 63 as a duo, broke Notre Dame's first service game to open their match. They cruised past Richard Ciamarra and Grayson Broadus to tally a 6-2 victory on court two.
Moments later, No. 53 Igor Saveljic and Ivan held serve on court one to complete a 6-1 win over 80th-ranked Brendon Kempin and Tristan McCormick.

In the third set, Igor faced clawed his way out of a 3-1 deficit, winning five games in a row with back-to-back breaks of Lebedev's serve to take the third set 6-3.
