No. 5 Men's Swimming & Diving Set for NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 5 NC State men's swimming and diving team is set to compete at the 2018 Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet, hosted by the University of Minnesota, will run March 21-24 inside the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
Schedule of Events:
The men's competition will be spread over four days. There will be a finals session Wednesday, followed by prelims and finals sessions during the following three days. Prelims each day will begin at 10 a.m. while finals will start at 6 p.m.

Competing inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center, the Pack won its fourth-straight ACC Championship. Along with winning four of the five relays, the Pack won 10 of the 13 individual swimming events, earned 23 podium finishes along with setting an American record and posting the second-fastest time in history in the 400 freestyle.

For the second-consecutive season Ryan Held was named ACC Most Valuable Swimmer. He earned a total of seven first-place finishes as he won the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly along with being part of the 800 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams.

The Wolfpack finished the season at No. 5 in the final CSCAA poll.
2017 NCAA Championships Recap
NC State earned a fourth-place team finish, tallying 272.5 points over the span of four days. The accomplishment ties the highest finish in program history and matches the Wolfpack's finish at the 2016 NCAA Championships.Â

In total, the team tallied 35 All-America honors, 25 of which were outright while 10 were honorable mention. The Wolfpack knocked down one U.S. Open record, one NCAA record, four conference records and eight school records throughout the duration of the meet.
In the team race, the Texas Longhorns won their third-straight national title, accumulating 542 points throughout the week. California finished as runner-ups with 349 points and Florida took third place with 294.5 points.Â
Scouting the Competition
Heading into the Championship, Stanford holds the No. 1 rank with 289 points, California sits at No. 2 with 278, Indiana is No. 3 with 269 and Florida is No. 4 with 267.

Meet Notes
—The Wolfpack will enter the meet with the fastest entries in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. It is also seeded inside the top-three in the 800 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay along with being a top-five seed in the 200 medley relay
—The team has potential to collect an impressive amount of All-America honors with 14 individual swims seeded in the top-16 of competition, nine of which are seeded in the top-eight.
—The Pack has two of No. 1 seeds in individual events; Coleman Stewart in the 100 backstroke and Anton Ipsen in the 1650 freestyleÂ
—James Brady will represent the team in the platform diving competition for the second-straight season
