CORAL GABLES, Fla. – .Playing its fourth-straight match on the road, the No. 46 NC State women's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 31 Miami Sunday at the Schiff Tennis Center.
The Pack now sits at 9-9 overall and 2-3 in the ACC while Miami is 9-4 and 5-1 in conference play.
From the Coach
"Business as usual on the road in the ACC, another tough team and tough match," said head coach Simon Earnshaw. "I can't say that we were necessarily at full strength but then neither were they and that's how it is sometimes during the season. You've got to play with what you have on the day, play as hard as you possibly can and try to find your way. I wasn't happy with our doubles, we didn't take the courts in the right way and apply ourselves at the beginning the right way. That part we can control, we go to great lengths to simplify and approach that in a consistent manner and it has to be better. In singles we knew they were going to be tough right at the top of their line-up, I thought we maybe could have done better there but on average we were outplayed. That being said the chances were there for us in the lower line-up and we certainly put ourselves in good position No. 4 - No. 6 singles with ultimately Taylor and Amanda pulling out wins, however we weren't in enough matches without being perfect. Ultimately this was a good road trip for us but we can't settle on just getting a split out of it. We've got to use it, learn and get back to work this next week because there's plenty more ACC action ahead of us."
Doubles
The Wolfpack dropped the doubles point to the Hurricanes as Adriana Reami and Amanda Rebol fell 6-2 to Estela Perez-Somarriba and Daniela Roldan at the No. 1 position while at No. 2 Miami's Sinead Lohan and Ana Macdur defeated Bianca Moldovan and Tayla Stenta 6-3.
Singles
NC State earned two victories in singles; Taylor Bridges outlasted Ana Madcur at the No. 4 position 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) while at No. 6 Amanda Rebol overcame Dominika Paterova 6-0, 6-4.
